“Pioneers in Renters’ Services.” Beyond a marketing message – this statement defines our past, and charts the course for the company’s future. In 2005, Kirby Sommers became what is known as a “spontaneous volunteer” when she became immersed in finding homes and resources for thousands of displaced individuals and families displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

In 2007, Kirby’s vision for helping people expanded to include renters. The first service she created were Landlord Links, which were well received. Within days of launching Landlord Links our phones and inbox were flooded with people who wanted to personally thank Kirby for stepping up to lend assistance to an underserved community.

Sure there were plenty of brokers who connected renters to apartments – for a fee. A large fee. One collected at the time the lease was signed or a fee landlords hid in the base rent so they could offer a false “no fee” apartment. Without full disclosure renters paid this hidden fee.

Kirby Sommers was the first person (a real estate broker by training) with a desire to eliminate the broker from the rental transaction; and by so doing reduce the cost of renting an apartment. She was also the first real estate broker to decline the role of “chasing a commission.”

The early success of Landlord Links served as the foundation for the company’s reputation for innovation and unparallel service. Our service options continue to expand. Nobody pursues the renter’s experience like we do. We don’t work for landlords and we don’t collect commission. Instead, we choose to work for renters with creative and proven methods that save people money and which educate our consumers for life.
